New Year, New Outlook

“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”
-George Bernard Shaw

I’m loving the theme that seems to be going on for a lot of people starting the new year. You truly are in charge of your own happiness and once you remove negative, stuck in one place, types of people, you’d be amazed at how your attitude and everything changes. Negativity isn’t always in a form that’s easily recognizable. It can come from friends, family, partner, etc. I had a ‘friend’ tell me I used to be so perfect when I made a comment about wanting to change certain things about my life, how I react, how I perceive things and it may not seem negative (to only the person who said it) but it for sure stuck with me and didn’t make me feel good. I’ve been friends with this person for years, ya, we’ve had our ups and downs but my point is, that was someone I cared about, had feelings for at one point, and they became toxic to be around. It sucked, but ultimately, it’s my life, I get to be selfish and make decisions about who I want in it. Took me almost 30 years to stop being so submissive to those types of people. Thinking because I cared about them, I’d let them treat me that way. It was affecting me more than I realized. I wasn’t happy at work, I had a short temper, I was waking up late, not caring about showing up to work late, developed additional health problems because I was unmotivated, and then I had people around me who weren’t supportive of my growth. Not blaming anyone, it just built up and I had to make a change. So I did and everything else is falling into place. Been making it to the gym at 430am again, getting to work on time, making plans, hanging out with new friends, spending time alone, exploring my hobby constantly, etc. Nobody is perfect and it’s ok to not have it all together all the time. It’s life, roll with it. So, do something different if you feel like something is wrong, but don’t know what, you’re unhappy, challenge yourself, make bets with yourself, have someone you trust hold you accountable, find what works for you. Keep trying. There’s no cap on how many times you can reinvent yourself and anyone who makes comments otherwise, aren’t really in your corner or have your back. So, with that being said, do what makes you happy, not what makes others happy. Reinvent, recharge, revitalize yourself ❤
